Luxembourg signs strategic UN humanitarian partnership agreements
Luxembourg has signed three new strategic partnership frameworks for the 2027–2030 period with United Nations agencies. The agreements, signed in New York during the UN General Assembly, involve the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Vice-Prime Minister and Minister for Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, Xavier Bettel, reaffirmed the nation's commitment to multilateralism and humanitarian principles. The country continues to dedicate 1% of its gross national income to public development aid and humanitarian action, which is projected to reach 872 million euros in 2026.
The partnerships aim to address increasing global humanitarian needs, focusing on food security, refugee protection, and the safety of humanitarian workers. Luxembourg also intends to support digital solutions and connectivity to improve service access for displaced populations.
