Luxembourg Train Links Disrupted by Works in France and Belgium
In the French city of Thionville, replacement buses now run between the station and Luxembourg while the CFL line to Luxembourg undergoes extensive infrastructure works from 16 July to 14 September 2027. Buses depart every five to ten minutes during peak hours, but passengers report longer journeys and difficulty coordinating bus timetables with train connections.
In Belgium, Infrabel is carrying out maintenance on the eastern ring line (Halle‑Vilvoorde) over three consecutive weekends (25 July, 1 August and 8 August). The work includes track, signalling and overhead‑line renewal, resulting in the suspension of train services between Brussels‑Luxembourg and Vilvoorde, and between Brussels‑Luxembourg and Leuven. NMBS has adjusted S‑train schedules and advises travellers to use MIVB or De Lijn buses and to consult the NMBS journey planner for updated times.
