Luxembourg's Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie mark first year on throne
Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg are marking their first full year on the throne following the abdication of Grand Duke Henri. The transition of power, which occurred in October 2025, saw the young prince ascend to the throne, making his six-year-old son, Charles, the youngest heir in Europe.
During their first year, the royal couple has engaged in numerous official duties, including eight state visits and several gala dinners. Recent diplomatic activities included hosting the Finnish presidential couple, Alexander Stubb and Suzanne Innes-Stubb, for a state visit at the Grand Ducal Palace. Other notable engagements have included courtesy visits to neighboring Belgium and Germany, as well as participating in religious ceremonies such as the Te Deum at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg.
