Luxor archaeological discovery reveals ancient 18th Dynasty industrial zone
An Egyptian archaeological mission, led by Egyptologist Zahi Hawass, has uncovered an ancient industrial complex in the West Valley of Luxor. Located near the Valley of the Kings, the site is believed to date back to the 18th Dynasty, a period spanning roughly the mid-16th to the late 14th century BCE.
The discovery includes 30 workshops used for various crafts, including ceramics, metalworking, the production of decorative objects, and the creation of funerary furniture intended for royal tombs. This find provides significant insight into the ancient Egyptian economy and the complex production chains that supported the royal court and funerary rituals.
