Luxury automakers pivot to electric vehicles in Brazil and Portugal
Luxury automotive brands are shifting their strategies toward electrification and new definitions of premium service in South American and European markets.
In Brazil, Cadillac is launching its official operations with a fully electric portfolio. Nancy Serapião, the brand's director for South America, stated that the company aims to move away from traditional ostentation toward a luxury identity defined by technology, comfort, and performance. The brand is debuting with two electric SUVs, the Lyriq and the Vistiq. This move aligns with General Motors data showing that approximately half of the 50,000 vehicles sold annually in Brazil's premium segment are already electrified.
In Portugal, Audi is also focusing on market transformation through electrification and enhanced service. Marília Machado dos Santos, who has led Audi Portugal since January, emphasized that the modern premium experience must prioritize sustainability, practicality, and accessibility to meet evolving customer needs and remain competitive.
