Luxury residential landscape designs emphasize multifunctional outdoor living

Recent residential landscape projects highlight a trend toward multifunctional, luxury outdoor living spaces designed for year-round use and entertainment.

In the Pacific Northwest, designer Kenna Hartman of 7 Dees worked to transform a backyard into a serene oasis. The design features a custom-shaped swimming pool that includes a lap lane and a children's play area, alongside dedicated spaces for gardening and entertaining. To ensure usability in all four seasons, the project incorporated privacy strategies such as decorative fencing and mature evergreen hedging, as well as integrated stormwater management.

In Fort Myers, Florida, Spiro Custom Pools completed a resort-style aquatic landscape designed to serve as an extension of the home's indoor living areas. The project features a vanishing-edge pool and spillover spa elevated to visually merge with a private lake view. Luxury amenities include LED lighting, a rain curtain and water wall hybrid, a putting green, and a fire pit area, all contained within an expansive lanai that can be fully enclosed.
