Luxury travel trends shift toward data-driven wellness and regional authenticity
The luxury travel and wellness sectors are seeing significant shifts toward personalization through technology and regional authenticity. Katherine Droga, chair of the Global Wellness Institute, noted that US$3.6 billion was invested in the wellness and fitness space during the first half of 2026. She emphasized that technology, specifically data-driven health, is becoming a cornerstone of luxury wellness by allowing for bespoke experiences such as pre-arrival genetic or blood testing to tailor longevity programs.
Research indicates that the 25–44 age demographic spends over $540 billion annually on wellness, with a high percentage tracking health metrics and intending to visit wellness facilities.
In the broader luxury travel market, Andrea Grisdale, CEO of IC Bellagio, highlighted the importance of regional diversity and authentic local connections. Focusing on Italy, Grisdale noted that the country’s 20 distinct regions encourage repeat visits by offering unique cultural identities and landscapes. The emphasis in luxury tourism is moving away from standardized itineraries toward highly tailored journeys that utilize local expertise and community engagement.
