Luz Elena González denies facilitating Pemex contracts

Mexico’s Secretary of Energy, Luz Elena González Escobar, has denied allegations that she facilitated Pemex contracts for companies linked to Corporativo Kosmos. The denials follow a column published in El Universal that suggested preferential treatment for the firms La Cosmopolitana and Productos Serel.

In a letter to the newspaper, González Escobar characterized the claims as “rotundamente falsa” (categorically false) and stated that the report lacked evidentiary support. Citing information from Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), the Secretary noted that neither company has had active contracts since 2024, nor are they currently listed in the state-owned oil company’s registry of suppliers.
