Luzerner Kantonalbank reports record growth in first nine months
Luzerner Kantonalbank (LUKB) has reported significant growth for the first nine months of the year, maintaining a record trajectory. The bank’s operating profit rose by 8.5 percent to 273.8 million Swiss francs, while group profit increased by 8.7 percent to 223.3 million Swiss francs.
Growth was observed across all revenue pillars. Net income from central interest business rose 4.3 percent to 361.0 million Swiss francs. Non-interest income saw more substantial gains, with commission and service business increasing by 12.8 percent to 118.4 million Swiss francs, driven primarily by securities and investment business. Trading business success also grew by 13 percent to 63.1 million Swiss francs.
Total operating income reached 555.8 million Swiss francs, a 7.7 percent increase. Despite a 6.6 percent rise in operating expenses, the cost-income ratio remained low at 45.5 percent. Assets under management in wealth management stood at 18.53 billion Swiss francs.
Following an upward revision of its 2026 forecast in August, the bank expressed further optimism. Group profit is expected to fall within the upper third of the revised target range of 305 to 320 million Swiss francs. Outgoing CEO Daniel Salzmann noted the bank is in an excellent state ahead of Stefan Studer taking over leadership in early 2027.
