Álvaro Carreras returns to Real Madrid after stint abroad
Álvaro Carreras, a 22‑year‑old left‑back from Ferrol in Galicia, began his football journey at local club Caranza before moving to Racing de Ferrol and joining Deportivo de La Coruña’s youth set‑up at age nine. In 2017 he entered Real Madrid’s academy, progressing through the Juvenil C side.
After three seasons in the Spanish capital, Carreras pursued a senior career abroad, playing for Manchester United’s youth teams and later for Portuguese side Benfica, where he earned recognition as one of Europe’s promising defenders. In July he signed a new contract with Real Madrid lasting until June 2031 and was formally presented on 15 July, marking his return to the club where he first trained as a teenager.
