Álvaro Rojas receives CRUCH award for higher education contributions

Álvaro Rojas, Executive Director of the Interuniversity Development Center (CINDA) and former rector of the University of Talca, has been awarded the ‘Reconocimiento a la Contribución en Educación Superior 2026’ by the Council of Rectors and Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH).

The biennial award, established in 2024 to mark CRUCH's 70th anniversary, recognizes significant contributions to the higher education system. Rojas follows former President Michelle Bachelet, who received the inaugural distinction in 2024.

Rojas was cited for his work in regional public institution development, institutional evaluation processes, the implementation of transferable credit systems, competency-based training, and his efforts in university internationalization and cooperation. During the ceremony held at the University of Chile, Rojas emphasized the collective nature of university transformation and the importance of leadership in achieving academic excellence.
