Álvaro Vadillo criticizes Óscar García over Celta de Vigo tenure
Former footballer Álvaro Vadillo has criticized his brief tenure at Celta de Vigo under coach Óscar García Junyent. In a recent interview on the Climbers podcast, Vadillo described the experience as surreal, noting that he joined the club in July 2020 but left for Espanyol just three months later without ever making an official debut.
Vadillo leveled harsh criticisms against García, both professionally and personally. He claimed the coach was “horribly bad” and alleged that the assistant coach was actually responsible for conducting all training sessions. Regarding García’s character, Vadillo stated, “As a person, even worse because he doesn’t even say good morning to you.”
The player admitted to being “childish and capricious” during that period, acknowledging that he should have remained patient and focused on training rather than expressing his dissatisfaction. Vadillo concluded that the only explanation for his lack of playing time and exclusion from even warming up for matches was that the coach simply did not want him in the squad.
