LVBP imports drive pitching success as Magallanes confirms roster

The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) continues to rely heavily on imported talent to strengthen pitching rosters. Recent seasons have seen several foreign players emerge as dominant strikeout leaders. Claudio Custodio leads this group with 103 strikeouts over 131.1 innings, followed by Elih Villanueva with 71 strikeouts, Abdiel Saldana with 67, Keyvius Sampson with 66, and Ángel Rondón with 65.

In preparation for the 2026-2027 season, the Navegantes del Magallanes have finalized their roster of six imported players. The group, managed by Yadier Molina, includes Dominican pitcher Jesús Reyes, returning right-hander Alex Tovalín, and Reid Birlingmair. The roster is rounded out by Nick Trogrlic-Iverson, left-hander Drew Parrish, and Víctor Vargas, providing a mix of minor league experience and winter league success.
