LVBP season begins with participation from MLB players

The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) has commenced its 2026-2027 season, featuring several Major League Baseball players looking to gain additional experience and playing time.

Notable participants include Omar Martínez of Águilas del Zulia, who recently debuted with the Los Angeles Angels, and Gabriel González of Caribes de Anzoátegui, a prospect for the Minnesota Twins who has already recorded two home runs this season. Other players active in the league include Lenyn Sosa and Víctor Bericoto for Leones del Caracas, as well as Jorge Barrosa and Sebastián Rivero for Tiburones de La Guaira.

While stars such as Salvador Pérez and Ronald Acuña Jr. have been discussed, they have not yet joined the action. For many of these players, the winter season serves as a critical period for development and preparation for their respective MLB organizations.
