Lviv recruitment officer fatally stabbed during mobilization check

A 55-year-old military recruitment officer was fatally stabbed in Lviv, western Ukraine, during a routine document check. The attack occurred while a group of officials was conducting mobilization procedures.

According to regional police, a 25-year-old suspect allegedly attacked the official with a knife, causing fatal injuries that led to the officer's death in an ambulance. An accompanying police officer fired two shots, wounding the assailant in the leg. The suspect was subsequently hospitalized and remains in custody.

This incident is the latest in a series of violent confrontations linked to Ukraine's controversial mobilization efforts. As the country faces troop shortages, recruitment officials have frequently been targets of resistance, with reports of physical altercations and public unrest regarding coercive conscription practices.
