LVMH and Kering strengthen model protection charter

Luxury conglomerates LVMH and Kering have announced a fortified model charter to enhance the safety, dignity, and working conditions of models. The updated protocols, which take effect next year starting with Paris Fashion Week Men’s in January, include a mandate that the minimum age for models representing adults in fashion shows or photo shoots is 18, up from 16.

The new policy establishes a zero-tolerance stance against all forms of harassment, abuse, or violence, including physical, psychological, verbal, and emotional misconduct. To enforce these standards, the groups plan to conduct unannounced audits and workplace checks. New requirements for production environments include the necessity of a prior formal agreement, dedicated spaces, and ensuring models are never left alone with production team members, particularly during scenes involving nudity.

Additionally, the charter introduces a strengthened, anonymous reporting procedure to protect witnesses and victims. The companies also explicitly included a non-discrimination policy to prevent stereotyping while maintaining artistic freedom. Both groups committed to working exclusively with global partners and subcontractors who adhere to these updated ethical and social responsibility standards.
