Lwandle mass shooting kills 10 people and injures 11

A mass shooting at an entertainment venue in Lwandle, Strand, resulted in the deaths of ten people—eight men and two women—and left 11 others injured. The attack occurred at approximately 01:46 on Sunday, 27 September, when gunmen opened fire on patrons at KwaNdelu Shisa Nyama.

In response to the tragedy, the community held an emergency prayer meeting on Monday to mourn the victims and call for peace. Local officials and police representatives attended the gathering. While police have increased deployments in the area, no arrests have been made as of Monday.

The violence has also impacted local cultural activities; organizers of the ‘Pretty Girls Love Maskandi’ event, originally scheduled for 3 October in Nomzamo, Strand, announced the event has been postponed following the shooting.
