Lydia Lozano explains why she never left Telecinco's Sálvame

In an interview on Televisión Canaria’s programme “Mira quién viene a cenar”, journalist Lydia Lozano said she stayed on Telecinco’s tabloid show Sálvame to avoid giving her colleagues the satisfaction of her departure. She explained that leaving would have caused them to talk about her for a year and “put me in the spotlight”, so she preferred to remain present.

Lozano, who worked on Sálvame from its launch in 2009 until its cancellation in 2023—a total of 14 years—described the show’s format as filler for five‑hour afternoon slots and recalled the difficult moments on set. She also noted she has never seen a psychologist, joking that she “has a very well‑furnished head”. The interview was conducted by host Rafa Méndez.
