UK faces June heatwave with temperatures topping 30 °C

The Met Office forecasts a developing heatwave across England, with temperatures expected to rise above 30 °C in several counties on Friday, June 19. Kent could see up to 34 °C, while London, Surrey, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and the East and West Midlands are also projected to exceed 30 °C.

Heat health alerts have been issued for the East Midlands, East of England, London and the South East. The UK Health Security Agency warns that the combination of high temperatures and humidity may cause discomfort and sleep disturbances, and urges people to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest periods. Thunderstorms are possible later in the week, and further temperature spikes could push some southeastern locations above the official heat‑wave threshold for three consecutive days.
