Muslim Association of Canada addresses discriminatory incident; Jason Arday found dead

The Muslim Association of Canada has issued an update regarding an incident at its Toronto convention in May. During a seminar session, a word-cloud screen displayed the phrase “Jew free” submitted by an anonymous participant. The association stated that such “offensive and discriminatory” language has no place in the community and promised that the incident will not recur at future youth events.

In the United Kingdom, Jason Arday, a Black British academic and former University of Cambridge professor, was found dead on Friday. Arday had recently resigned from the university following a plagiarism scandal that included allegations of racism. Police have stated that while his death is being treated as unexpected, it is not believed to be suspicious.

In North American trade relations, concerns are rising regarding potential Canadian manufacturing shifts toward the United States as a tariff deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump approaches.
