Lymphatic drainage trends grow through social media and wellness products

Lymphatic drainage has seen a surge in popularity through social media trends and wellness products. Trending methods include “lymphatic walking,” which emphasizes posture and breathing, as well as “rebounding” on a trampoline and dynamic stretching. Additionally, the bodycare market has seen an increase in tools and topicals, such as dry brushes, gua sha, and specialized oils, designed to encourage lymphatic flow.

The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that maintains fluid balance and supports immune function by transporting lymph fluid. Unlike the cardiovascular system, which is pumped by the heart, the movement of lymph relies on muscle contractions, breathing, and physical activity.

While lymphatic drainage massage and certain activities can assist in moving fluid, experts note that if the lymphatic system is healthy, there is no specific evidence that certain workouts are more effective than others for maintenance. However, improper function can lead to serious conditions like lymphoedema, which requires medical management.
