Nutrition study examines food access for seniors

A new randomized study has investigated methods to improve access to fresh fruits and vegetables for individuals over the age of 65 facing mobility and transportation challenges.

Researchers followed 67 participants through three different 12-week programs. One group received customizable boxes of produce delivered to their homes, while a second group received fresh products along with ingredients for three weekly recipes. A third control group was provided with vouchers to use at local mobile markets. The study aims to determine if changing how food is delivered can effectively combat food insecurity among the elderly.
