Lynchburg law enforcement arrests 140 fugitives in multi-agency operation

Law enforcement agencies in Lynchburg, Virginia, have concluded Operation United Resolve, a multi-agency initiative aimed at combating crime and illegal substances. Between August 1 and August 31, 2026, 21 federal, state, and local agencies collaborated to arrest 140 fugitives and execute 316 warrants.

The operation resulted in the seizure of various narcotics, including 600 grams of cocaine, 25 grams of fentanyl, 212 grams of MDMA, and 30 grams of methamphetamine. Authorities noted that the amount of fentanyl seized alone was sufficient to cause over 10,000 fatal overdoses. Additionally, officers recovered 29 firearms, including a machine gun, and $80,159 in cash. The investigation also led to the recovery of 1,036 images of child sexual abuse material.
