Lynlee Pollis trial proceeds in fatal 2023 SMU student crash
The felony trial of Lynlee Pollis, 27, continues in Dallas regarding a September 2023 car crash that killed 19-year-old Southern Methodist University student Honor Wallace. Pollis faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
A toxicology chemist testified that Pollis had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.294%, which is nearly four times the Texas legal limit of 0.08%. Experts suggested this level would likely require the consumption of six to 11 standard alcoholic drinks.
Defense attorneys do not dispute that Pollis was speeding or ran a red light, but they contest the intoxication claims. The defense argues that the blood evidence may have been tainted and noted that bodycam footage and witness testimony showed Pollis appearing sober at the time of the incident. Evidence presented in court indicated Pollis was traveling between 63 and 67 mph in a 35 mph zone when she struck Wallace’s vehicle.
