Lynwood Library reopens after $8 million renovation

The Lynwood Library in Los Angeles County officially reopened on September 4, 2026, following a two-year, $8 million renovation project. The facility, which was originally built in 1977, had not undergone significant upgrades in nearly five decades.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and Library Director Dr. Skye Patrick attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the modernization of the 12,000-square-foot space. The renovation includes dedicated areas for adults, teens, and children, as well as an expanded community room and two group study rooms.

New technological and structural improvements feature express self-checkout machines, public computers, Wi-Fi, and a new customer service desk. The building also features two large skylights to increase natural light and drought-tolerant landscaping on the exterior. This project is the first of five planned library upgrades in the southeastern Los Angeles County region.
