Lyon municipal council interrupted after opposition walkout
The Lyon municipal council session was interrupted on October 2 after several opposition groups walked out, preventing a quorum from being met. The departure of these officials halted the examination of remaining agenda items, including a motion and an oral question.
Opposition groups Lyon Ensemble and Cœur Lyonnais justified their exit by citing the behavior of the mayor, Grégory Doucet, and what they described as outrages from La France insoumise members. Lyon Ensemble characterized the mayor's conduct as “not up to standard,” while Cœur Lyonnais had previously criticized the administration for treating the opposition with “contempt or lightness.”
The session, which had been extended due to a heavy agenda, concluded earlier than expected following the tense exchanges and the subsequent loss of the quorum.
