Lyon retiree returns to work as delivery person

A 74-year-old former bank employee named Christian has returned to the workforce as a part-time delivery person in Lyon, France. Despite having retired at age 60 after 43 years of service, his pension of approximately 2,600 euros has proven insufficient to support himself and his family.

Christian works overnight shifts distributing newspapers to newsstands. Reflecting on his decision to return to labor, he told RMC BFMTV, “I would have been better off continuing to work and not retiring,” adding, “I decided to do this because I will rest when I die.”
