Lyon takes top spot in French football league
In the seventh round of the French football championship, Lyon moved to the top of the standings after a 2-1 victory over Nice. Nice initially led through Elye Wahi in the 18th minute, but Lyon responded with goals from Pavel Šulc and Tanner Tessmann before halftime. Despite Nice playing with a man advantage following Keita Nakamura's red card in the 70th minute, a late goal by Wahi was overturned by VAR.
In another match, Paris FC defeated Rennes 4-3. Lassine Sinayoka scored twice, including a penalty in stoppage time, while Maxime Lopez added two goals for Paris FC. For Rennes, Esteban Lepaul scored all three goals, all from penalty kicks. This match marked the first time in the French league since January 1992 that four penalties were awarded in a single game.
Marseille secured a 5-2 away win against Angers, with goals from Himad Abdelli, Nouhoum Kamissoko, Amine Gouiri, Amine Harit, and Igor Paixao.
