Lyten faces criticism over Northvolt acquisition and technology

Lyten, the American company that acquired Northvolt, is facing sharp criticism from industry veteran Frederic Hauge. Hauge, a co-founder of the bankrupt Norwegian battery company Morrow and chairman of the Bellona environmental foundation, has labeled Lyten a ‘bluff’ in a 14-page report.

Hauge argues that Lyten’s technology, financing, and customer base are unreliable. He specifically questions the company’s reliance on lithium-sulfur battery technology, noting that it has not achieved significant market penetration in the electric vehicle or battery park sectors. Hauge has submitted his warnings to the bankruptcy trustees for Morrow and the Norwegian state-owned entity Siva.

While Lyten’s Swedish co-founder Lars Herlitz maintains that the company’s patented materials could ‘change the world,’ the company is navigating a complex transition following the Northvolt acquisition and the recent collapse of Morrow in Norway.
