M-1 Peshawar Motorway reopens after five-day closure

The M-1 Peshawar Motorway has reopened to all traffic in both directions following a five-day closure. The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) confirmed that the route between Islamabad and Peshawar is fully restored.

While the M-1 is operational, rehabilitation work continues on other routes. The M-14 Motorway between Hakla and Kundal remains under repair, as does the connecting loop between the M-1 and the Hazara Motorway. Motorists traveling from Islamabad to Abbottabad are advised to exit at the Burhan Interchange, use the GT Road via Hasan Abdal, and rejoin the Hazara Expressway at the Jhary Kas Interchange.

Authorities have clarified that despite social media reports suggesting specific reopening dates for all major routes, the M-14 and E-35 (Hazara Motorway) remained subject to ongoing restrictions and rehabilitation. The N-5 GT Road is open to all traffic, though work continues at certain interchanges along the Peshawar M-1 stretch.
