M-4 Motorway expansion to six lanes ordered by December 15

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has ordered the National Highway Authority (NHA) to expand the Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad section of the M-4 Motorway from four to six lanes. The project is scheduled for completion by December 15.

During a meeting reviewing NHA Central Region development projects, the minister also directed officials to accelerate construction on the Lodhran-Multan Expressway and expedite preliminary work on the Lalamusa Bypass along the N-5 National Highway. Other infrastructure priorities discussed include the rehabilitation of the Baba Farid Bridge over the Sutlej River and plans to connect the Layyah and Taunsa bridges to the highway network in South Punjab.

To ensure high standards, Khan instructed the NHA to use the Murree-Islamabad Expressway as a model for construction quality. New projects are expected to incorporate modern requirements, such as improved lighting, quality rest areas, and safe pedestrian crossings.
