M. A. D. Editions releases M. A. D. 3 with Vincent Calabrese
M. A. D. Editions has released the M. A. D. 3, the third installment in its collection featuring independent creators. This new piece is a collaboration with renowned independent watchmaker Vincent Calabrese.
The timepiece features a complication inspired by Calabrese’s Baladin, a concept developed in the late 1980s. Unlike traditional jumping hour movements that change the hour instantaneously, this mechanism allows the hour to move progressively across the dial while the minutes continue their rotation. This design aims to more accurately reflect the continuous sensation of passing time.
To bring this concept to the M. A. D. 3, technical teams had to entirely redesign the hour module, transitioning from the highly artisanal origins of Calabrese’s earlier work to a contemporary mechanical implementation. The project follows previous M. A. D. Editions releases, such as the M. A. D. 1 by Maximilian Büsser and the M. A. D. 2 by Eric Giroud.
