M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum to host birthday celebrations

The National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum in Lithuania has announced a program of events to celebrate the 151st birthday of artist Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis on September 19, 2026.

The scheduled activities include creative workshops for families using various techniques such as pastels and watercolors. The museum will also host themed excursions titled ‘Čiurlionio harmonija’, which combine visual art analysis with live performances of harmonized Lithuanian folk songs.

Additionally, the museum director, Dr. Virginija Vitkienė, will present works by Čiurlionis’s teacher, painter Kazimieras Stabrauskas, which are being exhibited alongside Čiurlionis’s paintings for the first time. The program also features presentations on the Čiurlionis family fisharmonija by organ restorer Professor Girėnas Povilionis.
