Tamil Nadu party president and former chief minister M. K. Stalin accepted full responsibility for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's loss in the 2026 state assembly elections. In a speech to district secretaries, he called for unity, urged an end to blame‑games and announced sweeping organisational reforms to revive the party.

Stalin set up a 36‑member internal review committee to conduct a field study of all 234 constituencies. He instructed members to work in two‑person teams, gather unfiltered feedback from cadres, and submit a confidential “scan report” by June 5. A dedicated website will also collect comments from party workers and supporters. The findings will inform drastic structural changes aimed at restoring the DMK's standing in Tamil Nadu politics.
