Data compiled by Magyar Közút Zrt. reveals that a 1.5-kilometer stretch of the M0 motorway at kilometer marker 14 is the busiest road section in Hungary. This segment sees an average of 154,932 vehicles per day, which equates to approximately 6,455 vehicles per hour or 43 vehicles per minute. A significant portion of this traffic consists of trucks and heavy goods vehicles.
Traffic density fluctuates heavily throughout the day, with daytime volume being roughly four times higher than nighttime levels. During peak hours, nearly 26,000 vehicles can be found on the four-to-six lanes of the northeastern M0 ring road surrounding Budapest.
The report highlights a heavy concentration of traffic around the capital. Of the 20 busiest road segments in the country, 15 belong to the M0 motorway. Other highly utilized routes include the M1 (Budapest-Hegyeshalom), the M5 (Budapest-Röszke), and the M31. While major motorways dominate the list, five secondary main roads also appear among the top 20 busiest segments.
