M25 motorway crash near Leatherhead causes 17‑mile traffic jam

An overturned vehicle on the M25 clockwise near Junction 9 at Leatherhead caused one lane to be blocked, creating a 17‑mile queue of congestion during the morning rush hour on Tuesday, June 2. Two of the four lanes remained closed, with delays of up to two hours reported between Junction 8 (Redhill) and Junction 9, extending back toward Junction 5 (Sevenoaks).

National Highways and traffic‑monitoring service Inrix said the incident was expected to clear between 9:00 am and 9:15 am. No injuries have been confirmed and the number of vehicles involved was not disclosed.
