GREEN×EXPO 2027 to be held in Yokohama

The GREEN×EXPO 2027, an International Horticultural Exposition certified by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), is scheduled to take place in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, from March 19 to September 26, 2027. The event aims to host 10 million visitors over its 192-day duration, focusing on the theme of “Creating Tomorrow’s Landscapes of Happiness” through the connection between humans, plants, and the environment.

The GREEN×EXPO Association recently held a seminar for the travel industry to discuss operational plans and progress. Key logistical details include a single entry gate, the use of mobility support for elderly visitors across the 80-hectare site, and a reservation system where visitors can book one facility per day upon arrival. To manage crowd density, the association is encouraging the development of evening tours and promoting travel packages that combine the expo with stays in Yokohama and Kanagawa.

Exhibitions will include various themed zones, such as the “Nekko” pavilion, which explores the biological networks of plants, and a “Kids Village” designed to teach children about nature through interactive workshops and programming.
