M3 motorway bus accident: Multiple fatalities in Poland-registered tourist bus crash FAST-MOVING

A fatal accident occurred on the M3 motorway in Hungary during the early hours of Sunday morning. A Polish-registered tourist bus carrying 57 passengers and two drivers overturned near the Mezőkeresztes exit, heading towards Nyíregyháza.

Authorities, including the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Police Headquarters, confirmed that multiple people died and at least ten others were injured. Emergency responders activated mass casualty protocols, deploying numerous units from the National Ambulance Service and local disaster management services.

By 3:00 AM, firefighters had rescued 35 people from the vehicle, though several passengers remained trapped underneath the 24-ton bus. Rescue operations involved using specialized equipment and civil cranes to lift the vehicle's rear axle to reach those pinned beneath it. The affected section of the motorway was closed for investigation and technical recovery, with traffic being diverted at Mezőkeresztes and re-entering at Emőd.
