M3 motorway closed following lorry crash and diesel spill
A serious collision involving heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) has caused significant traffic disruption on the M3 motorway in the UK. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, resulted in approximately 300 litres of diesel spilling across the carriageway after a vehicle's fuel tank was ruptured.
National Highways reported that the damage to the road surface is severe enough to require full resurfacing. As a result, portions of the motorway have been closed to allow for emergency repairs, leading to substantial congestion and delays for morning commuters. Diversion routes have been established to bypass the affected areas.
Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance crews, attended the scene. Both HGV drivers were able to exit their vehicles and received medical treatment at the roadside.
