M5S and AVS join No TAV march in Val di Susa

Representatives from the Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S) and Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra (AVS) participated in a popular march against the TAV high-speed railway project in Val di Susa, moving from Sant'Ambrogio di Torino to Avigliana.

M5S officials, including Chiara Appendino and others, stated that large-scale infrastructure projects must be evaluated based on actual utility, costs, and environmental and social impacts. They specifically highlighted critical economic and environmental concerns regarding the Avigliana-Orbassano project. The party argued that public resources should instead be prioritized for local public transport, commuter railways, healthcare, and territorial protection, noting that the Turin Metro Line 1 construction is currently awaiting resources.
