M6-ISRSS celebrates first robotic surgery graduates in Casablanca
The Mohammed VI Interventional Simulation and Robotic Surgery School (M6-ISRSS) held a graduation ceremony in Casablanca on September 12, 2026, marking the first cohort of its University Diploma in Robotic Surgery. The program, which began in January 2026, trained over 60 surgeons and operating room nurses from Morocco and various African nations.
The curriculum integrates theoretical instruction, practical application, and advanced simulation. Students utilized state-of-the-art facilities, including two dedicated training robots, augmented reality platforms, and specialized interventional units. This training approach aims to ensure medical teams can master robotic-assisted techniques and coordination in a controlled environment before performing clinical interventions.
Mohammed Chahbouni, director of the International Mohammed VI Center for Simulation in Health Sciences, noted that the initiative supports the advancement of robotic surgery in Morocco. Professor Jacques Hubert, a urologist from the University of Lorraine, emphasized that the gradual learning process and simulation are essential for mastering these complex technologies and improving patient safety.
