M65 and M62 motorways face heavy delays after multi‑vehicle crashes in England

A collision on the eastbound carriageway of the M65 between junctions 6 (Blackburn) and 7 (Accrington) in Lancashire forced the road to close, prompting police, paramedics and fire crews to respond. The incident created roughly two miles of congestion and delays of about 20 minutes, although traffic began to flow again after around 40 minutes.

On the M62 near Huddersfield, a multi‑vehicle crash at junction 24 shut two of the four westbound lanes, producing three‑ to four‑mile queues and delays of 30‑45 minutes. Emergency services and recovery teams remained on scene. A separate issue at junction 25 on the eastbound side, caused by a fuel spillage, led to the closure of one lane and very slow traffic.

Both incidents disrupted major motorways in England, prompting drivers to allow extra travel time and follow updates from National Highways and traffic monitoring services.
