Damien Thévenot exits Télématin as Maya Lauqué takes solo helm

After 27 years on France 2’s morning show, presenter Damien Thévenot delivered an emotional farewell on 9 July 2026, saying he was “very happy today” and thanking viewers before leaving the programme. France Télévisions announced that Maya Lauqué will present the first part of Télématin alone from 6:30 to 9:00 am when the new season starts, extending the show to run until 10:45 am. The overhaul also introduces a second segment hosted by Agathe Lecaron and a new studio set and branding. Programme director Philippe Corbé explained, “I think it is important that the editorial clarity of Télématin be clearer and that there be a single person who embodies the show.” Channel executives stressed that Thévenot remains a key face of public television: “Damien is an extremely important face of France Télévisions. We have many projects with him… he will be one of our summer surprises,” said Stéphane Sitbon‑Gomez. The reforms are part of broader budget‑driven changes at the broadcaster, with Francis Letellier slated to host the new “Les 4 vérités” political interview segment.
