M7 Metro Line repairs in Istanbul aim for year-end reopening

Repair works are underway on the M7 Yıldız-Mahmutbey Metro Line in Istanbul following structural deformation caused by underground water flow. Service between Mecidiyeköy and Nurtepe has been suspended since April 27, which also resulted in the temporary closure of the Çağlayan and Kağıthane stations.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Deputy Secretary General Pelin Alpkökin stated that an engineering solution has been identified and the goal is to reopen the line before the end of this year. Erman Eryılmaz, Deputy Head of the İBB Rail Systems Department, noted that demolition work is nearing completion on a damaged 60-meter section. The repair plan includes implementing a drainage system to prevent future water-related issues and reconstructing the affected area.
