M941 Tournai arrives in Zeebrugge for Belgian Navy

The M941 Tournai, the second vessel destined for the Belgian Navy, has arrived in Zeebrugge. This ship is the third in the Belgian-Dutch replacement Mine Counter Measures (rMCM) program.

The official transfer of ownership from the Belgium Naval & Robotics (BNR) consortium to the Belgian State is scheduled for September 25, 2026. The Tournai follows the M940 Ostend and the Dutch M840 Vlissingen as part of a joint investment by Belgium and the Netherlands to modernize mine warfare capabilities.

The rMCM program integrates innovative vessels with autonomous systems operating on, under, and above the water. This initiative aims to protect maritime access routes, ports, and critical underwater infrastructure from increasingly sophisticated modern naval mines, while also addressing the ongoing threat of historical explosives from past conflicts.
