Ma Chandbadani Temple highlighted as major spiritual center in Tehri Garhwal

The Ma Chandbadani Temple, located in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, is highlighted as a significant center for Shakti worship. Situated at an altitude of approximately 2,277 meters above sea level in Jamnikhal village, the temple is known for its spiritual importance and scenic views of the Himalayan peaks, including Kedarnath and Badrinath.

In a unique tradition, a ‘Shri Yantra’ is worshipped in the sanctum sanctorum instead of a traditional idol. The temple is considered the third Shakti Peeth in Tehri, following Kunjapuri and Surkanda. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared a video of the temple on social media, describing it as a unique confluence of faith, nature, and divinity.

According to local religious texts, the site is associated with the legend of Mata Sati, where various sacred items like tridents and idols are said to have fallen. The temple is accessible via a one-kilometer trek and offers panoramic views of the surrounding dense forests and snow-capped mountains.
