Ma Xingrui, former Politburo member, prosecuted for bribery

Ma Xingrui, a former member of the Communist Party of China's Politburo and former Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, has been formally prosecuted for bribery. Following an investigation by the National Supervisory Commission, the Supreme People's Procuratorate ordered his arrest and designated the Yichang People's Procuratorate in Hubei Province to oversee the case.

Prosecutors allege that Ma utilized his various high-level positions to seek benefits for others and illegally accepted massive amounts of property and money. The allegations reportedly span approximately 25 years, beginning during his tenure with the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation in 1999.

Ma's career included significant roles such as General Manager of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Governor of Guangdong Province, and Party Secretary of Shenzhen. In July 2026, he was expelled from the Communist Party and removed from public office for serious violations of discipline and law, including allegations of facilitating family corruption and engaging in improper transactions involving power and money.
