Maïana Prat wins bronze in floor exercise at Gymnastics World Championships

At 16 years old, French gymnast Maïana Prat secured the bronze medal in the floor exercise during her first senior World Championships in Rotterdam. Prat finished with a score of 13.466, tying with Great Britain’s Abigail Martin but winning the medal due to a higher execution score. The podium was completed by Americans Claire Pease, who took gold, and Reese Esponda, who took silver.

Prat’s performance included a rare movement that may bear her name, a foot-to-head throw with a full 360-degree turn. She is only the third Frenchwoman to win a world medal on the floor exercise, following Ludivine Furnon in 1995 and Cassy Vericel in 2007.

French gymnast Elena Colas also delivered strong performances, finishing fourth in the balance beam with a score of 14.100. Despite competing with foot pain, Colas achieved several high rankings throughout the competition.
