Maarten van der Weijden begins 270km swim for cancer research
Maarten van der Weijden has begun a 270-kilometer swim across 22 cities in the Netherlands to raise funds for childhood cancer research. The journey, known as the ‘22-stedentocht’, started in Vught and is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, August 22, at the Prinses Máxima Centrum in Utrecht.
All donations from the event are dedicated to the Prinses Máxima Centrum Foundation to support the ‘For Life’ program. This research initiative focuses on the direct and long-term consequences of childhood cancer, including complications such as life-threatening infections and late-onset health issues.
The swim route includes several cities such as ’s-Hertogenbosch, Tilburg, Breda, Gouda, Woerden, and Waalwijk. As of the start of the trek, donations had already exceeded 40,000 euros.
