Maarten van Rossem and Philip Freriks launch new European travel series

The new NPO series ‘Maarten & Philip op het spoor’ follows presenters Maarten van Rossem and Philip Freriks on a train journey across Europe to explore the continent’s history, culture, and soul. The series aims to investigate the existence of a shared European identity.

In the initial episodes, the duo travels from Paris toward Spain. While the journey includes a stop in Zaragoza, the program focuses primarily on the theme of rail travel and the discussions held during the trip rather than providing an extensive tour of the Aragonese capital. Consequently, many of Zaragoza’s historical landmarks, such as its Baroque basilicas and Moorish palaces, remain largely unexplored in the broadcast.
